I love my Sculptor, but this is useless crap

I have had the Sculptor 78s for about 2 years now and I love it. And I thought I would be safe buying other products from the same company. What a wrong assumption!

The clip as it come out of the box has two wings that are not tightly fit together. I haven’t seen one milk jug where this would fit tightly and not wobble around. Then I pressed the two wings together, but the clip lost its firm grip on the shaft and it wobbles now completely loose on the shaft. Then I took a piece of the plastic tube that serves as a protector and put it in between the two wings of the shaft, while pushing the thermometer through. I now have a thermometer that fits tightly onto my milk jug. Great, I thought, let froth some milk. And the disaster continues …

The thermometer samples the temperature only every 2 seconds or so. During that time the temperature in the jug has increased by 4-5 degrees Celsius. Such a low sampling rate is useless for precisely controlling the milk temperature.

And the final blow came when I tried to froth milk for two lattes in a row: the thermometer turns off again in the middle of the second latte. And because the whole piece is in black, it takes a few seconds to find the power button again - by that time the temperature has risen by 15-20 degrees.

Nice try, Timemore, but this is an engineering catastrophe. My analogue thermometer for about ⅓ of the price gives me continuous readings, albeit with less precision. But have a precise temperature only every 2 seconds is even worse.

The response time is very slow

It's very difficult to steam a small quantity (75 mL) of milk while using this thermometer because the display updates the temperature too slowly.
